A broken piston is almost always the result of detonation. If one piston is broken, others are likely damaged to some extent as well. In my book your options are:

1.Repair it yourself - Pull it and disassemble it. If only one piston is bad you can pick up a used one by watching the classifieds. Buy all new rings and bearings and for $500 or so you can put it back right.

2.Buy a used JDM engine - Can be had for $1200 to $1500. Most have 50 to 60 thousand miles on them. You would want to do the 120K service on a used one so add $400 or so for parts.

3.Buy a stage 1 shortblock from Kyle at Import Parts Pro. This is the best option. Kyle currently has a special running on his engines. Stage 1 will run you just $2300. Only a little more than a used engine and it is built to last. Of course, if you need someone else to swap your parts onto the block it will add to the total.

If you need mechanical assistance, contact me offline. I know a guy around an hour from you who can do whatever you need very reasonably.
